AtwoodFest began in the summer of 1982 as Atwood Summerfest, an annual fundraising event for the Atwood Community Center (now the Goodman Community Center). In 2014, the Goodman Community Center withdrew as the host of the event to focus their energy on their core mission. The SASY Neighborhood Association stepped in and partnered with the Barrymore Theatre and the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center to reinvent the festival with a new name – AtwoodFest.
All three partners are non-profit organizations who use the proceeds for community-service programming. The SASY Neighborhood Association gives away much of our share through our Neighborhood Grant program.
AF22 was technically the event’s 40th year. The only year the event was not held was 2020. We’ll be back in 2023 with another awesome AtwoodFest!
